What is gleaning?
Gleaning is an Old Testament concept from the book of Ruth which refers to the sharing of one's wealth. In Old
Testament times, people were permitted to reap the leftover grain around the sides of the field after the harvest and
give it to the widows. The gleaning concept was — and still is — one way God's people can share with those in
need.
What types of products do you glean?
We glean a variety of products from many sources. For example:
- Product overruns and seconds from businesses.
- Products that do not meet quality control standards (i.e., wrong color, fragrance)
- Products offered in government auctions
- Products damaged in shipping and handling that are still usable.
- Products with packaging or labeling changes.
- Medical supplies and equipment from hospitals and medical centers when they upgrade to new technology.
What do you do with the products?
We warehouse and prepare the products for shipment to mission and humanitarian aid organizations working in the
